Hot spot temp

We have our guy in a proline 24x48x14. Hot side ambient is about 88 and the cool side is about 78 measured with a temp gun. With a temp gun I get a 100+ degree reading only on top of his hide under the RHP, inside of his hide is about 88. His body temp is 86 with a heat gun. He is happily hiding like usual. Should I drop his thermostat or leave it as is?

I think if your snake never goes up there you shouldn't have to worry about it. Being exothermic the snake will decide if the area is too hot by staying away or only staying a short while before retreating to the cool side. If he is still using the hot side hide regularly then your temps are probably fine.

Okay. Thanks. He does go up there for a little while after exploring and then retreats to his hot hide.
