questions about setting up a new rack / t-stat

I just got a new RBI cb70 rack and herpstat 2 t-stat. The rack came in last week so I set it up just to let everything come to temp. The t-stat came today and as I read through the manual I saw that they do not reccommend using aluminum tape to secure the probe. Unfortunately they don't say what they do reccommend, so what is the preferred method for securing the probe to the heat tape? Also, all three tubs are reaching different temps, so what tub should I attatch the probe to?

If you do use foil tape to secure your probe all it will do is hold more heat around the probe which in turn causes it to cut power at a much lower in tub hot spot temp which causes you to run the temp higher in order to achieve proper heat inside the tub. I had that problem so I just used a smaller piece of foil tape so i didnt completely cover the probe! Temps are now only set to 4 degrees higher than hot spot temps (paper towel substrate) I put my probe at the center tub level. I read that somewhere and sems to be working good for me. More experienced keepers may have better ways of doing it.

Hot glue on the cable leading up to the probe will hold it in place without impeding the probe.

Just an idea. You could probably hold down the probe by putting a thick sheet of paper over it and taping down the edges of the paper. It should hold tight and the paper wont trap heat causing the "low temp" cutoff that the foil tape would. Off the top of my head.
