Is the Zoo med repti-fogger completely useless?

So I've now purchased and set up 2 of these things and neither one turns on at all.

Which is making me think maybe I'm doing something wrong. Except that they seem so damn simple. But can 2 in a row really be that defective? Or is some bored petco clerk using them to play soccer in off hours?

Thoughts?

The things literally do not turn on at all when I attempt to use them. So far as I can tell it's full of water, and so the auto-shutdown shouldn't be going on.

You have to let it warm up. It usually takes 10-15 minutes for it to start fogging.

The light comes on when it starts actually fogging not when you turn the switch on.


Related to next post: squeeze it gently. If you squeeze it to hard it will overflow and get water everywhere.

Also, make sure water has come out of the bottle and gone into the fogger base. I squeeze the bottle a little bit.

I had trouble with mine at first too, though I can't remember what I did (if anything) to make it start working. It ended up dying after only a few weeks. To their credit I wasn't using distilled water so it's probably my fault.

There is a floating switch in the base where the water goes so the base has to be full to connect the circuit. Do this and it should work. Had the same problem.

I had one for a day or two before returning it. In my opinion they don't put off enough so I ended up spending $200 on a high pressure misting system. Well worth the money. I'd invest in one of those over a fogger any day.

The Walgreens option worked out pretty well too, big reservoir and works great.

Pretty easy project, there are videos out there on how to do it, but I did mine a little different.
If there's interest I'll go through the steps.
