Looking for GTP breeder willing to go the extra mile

In Massachusetts it's illegal to own a GTP unless you have a permit. I recently got my permit and am now able to get one (finally), now I need to find a good breeder to get one from. Unfortunately,still have to get through a little government red tape. In order to bring one into the state you have to get an importation permit. This is easy to get just need one thing - A health certificate from "a qualified individual." I'm looking for a reputable breeder that could do this, get the health certificate, send it to me, hold the animal while I get the importation permt in (turn around time of ~10 days), and then ship. Anyone have any suggestions for a good breeder?

I would try Rocky Gravely first. We got our first GTP from him and he was SO helpful and just a really nice guy to work with. He helped me a great deal and worked with me on the shipping - he definitely goes the extra mile!

That really sucks you have to jump through hoops to get a gtp. I can understand it though. My gtp is a deadly little guy that wants nothing more but escape and kill all of humanity. He can kill a dead rat like no other.

If you don't mind explaining alittle I would be interested in hearing what you have to do to get the permit.

All and all getting the permit was actually pretty easy. Just contacted Mass Wildlife and got the application. Filled it out. Mailed it in and 15 days later had the permit. You have to specify exactly what kind of, how many, and why you want the animals. I think it was that easy because I was only looking for 1 GTP and 1 ETB for educational purposes. I'm sure if I had been looking for something venomous it would have been more involved.

Rocky is a great guy. I know him from outside the reptile industry. A mutual friend introduced us YEARS ago, knowing we were both into reptiles. Neither of us work with the same critters, but still enjoy touching base with each other from time to time.

Why do they have you do that there? Just laws against snakes an that there? Just wondering cuz in Minnesota there's not many rules over what animals you can own as far as I know at least so the states that have them confuse me I guess is word I can use.

Yeah, Massachusetts unfortunately has alot of laws against owning certain animals. No venomous, no GTPs, ETBs, Retics, Anacondas, or Rock Pythons. Various types of colubrids (mainly native stuff) are also illegal without a permit. No monintors of any sort. Heck, until just recently is was illegal to own such mundane stuff as a Ferret or a Hedgehog!!

Wow that's just crazy to me, I have know people who had pet bears, pet deer, few wolfs an wolf/dog hybrids. That would be lame havin the state say what kinda animals you can have I think in mn as long as its not some endangered animal your good to go.

Thats big government in New England for you

For some odd reason, Reptile Expos aren't allowed in CT. We don't have any laws against owning any animals (that i've heard of) but we can't host expos here lol.
