    Spark Ball Python

So I think I am going to purchase a male spark for $3400, he is 500+ grams and ready to breed. My question is are these guys worth it?!?!? I plan to breed him to a fire a yellow belly and a bumblebee. I really wanted to get into this project because it seems to me that there are not that many spark morphs out there and I feel like this could be a good investment. What does everyone else think about sparks. Are there just not that many morphs because they are newer to the scene or are they hard to work with or what. Any advice, ideas or insight on this spark morph would be great!!!

    Re: Spark Ball Python

spark, to me, seems to me to be something like specter on steroids. single-gene it does much more to the colors, and the super form or the combinations with yellowbelly (superstripe vs puma) spark makes the whole result lighter, compared to just specter. its a bit like specter with a nice extra gene permanently attached, the premium version.

definitively an interesting gene, a very powerful gene. and because of its weaker but more well-explored little brother, specter, you can predict to a degree which new combos with spark will be worthwhile.

i dont know about the price, really not, but given that its such a powerful gene and WOBP only has 14 morphs containing it and there are no known genetic issues and no issues with the super form, it may be worth it.

Sparks are definitely worth it. Beyond the obvious coolness of the puma and super spark, the spark does major stuff with other genes like Kurtilein said. There's also a ton of stuff that hasn't been done with the spark yet, so the project still has a lot of life in it.

Babies males were selling at $3500-4000 last season, so getting a ready to breed male for just under that price doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.

Disclaimer: I am in the spark project. They are not hard to work with. I had one clutch spark x yellow belly last year and missed on the puma, but got 1.2 great sparks out of 5 eggs. Held back both females and they are amazing and growing well. I have one spark x yb clutch in the incubator this season with more spark clutches on the way. I'm glad to be in the project and think it's got a ton of potential.
