spark, to me, seems to me to be something like specter on steroids. single-gene it does much more to the colors, and the super form or the combinations with yellowbelly (superstripe vs puma) spark makes the whole result lighter, compared to just specter. its a bit like specter with a nice extra gene permanently attached, the premium version.

definitively an interesting gene, a very powerful gene. and because of its weaker but more well-explored little brother, specter, you can predict to a degree which new combos with spark will be worthwhile.

i dont know about the price, really not, but given that its such a powerful gene and WOBP only has 14 morphs containing it and there are no known genetic issues and no issues with the super form, it may be worth it.
