    He's probably nice & happy and feeling secure, but it was nice seeing him, now it's pretty tough.

    Yes, yes, and yes. The air exchange at the entrance to the hide will take care of humidity, and he will eventually switch hides if he wants to. Most of mine spend most of their time in one hide, only changing occasionally. Make sure the rest of the cage is cluttered enough that he feels secure travelling to the opposite side, and that your hot and ambient temps are appropriate.
