I notice this with mine. One thing you can look for before the eyes go opaque is a pinkish hue in the belly scales. I notice this a day or two before the blue stage.
Just remember that each snake has it's own personality and mannerisms, so just because your snake may become less active before a shed, doesn't mean they all do. Hope this helps
