    My first lock!

    Cinnamon x Normal

I woke up at 3 am to go to the bathroom and when I came back into my bedroom I checked on these two and saw they locked!

Could possibly be a whos your daddy clutch since my queen bee has been with her 5 times now (but I never saw a lock). Who knows! Im happy either way!

Joey congrats on the lock, but you really take some risks with your snakes. I'm not telling you what to do, bc they are your snakes, but i'd really recommend you practice quarantining a bit more.

    Re: My first lock!

Whoa... I was just about to say, didn't you just get the queen bee and that normal? Not observing qt, let alone pairing them so soon is seriously dangerous for your animals and you're putting in their lives at risk simply because you're impatient to start breeding. Very disappointed.

    Re: My first lock!

I thought I saw that queen pairing, when it had just got there. If you want to have a good name as a breeder, you should start putting your animals health and safety first, not having questionable keeping.

I havnt even had snakes for very long and I know you should QT them for a while and sure as heck should be breeding them that soon after getting them.. good luck but I really hope you didnt put these snakes at risk for you own selfish needs

Okay guys, lets not all gang up at once!

Everyone does quarantine a different way. I'd say a 60 day quarantine is pretty good. Maybe a little bit longer because of the mites. If you have PAM, mites are pretty easy to get rid of.

Why are you guys convinced this is going to adversely affect the animals? Whats done is done. The decision has already been made. I sincerely doubt that these snakes are at risk simply because the OP didn't quarantine as much as you all wanted him to. You all sitting here and criticizing his QT practices is not really helping anyone (no not even the snakes).

I'm not saying it's right and that I would do the same thing, but they are HIS animals and he can do what he pleases based on his own judgement.

I think your decision to breed was a bit hasty, you could have waited until fall to do your pairings. I impatiently started pairing in May of 2012 and that female is just now about to lay. It didn't really matter that I started earlier, she didn't start building until the fall. It is a long process and if you don't have patience now, you are going to be very disappointed further down the line.
