    Re: Grey Banded Kingsnake questions

I kept mine in 20L tanks, on aspen, with screen tops to let humidity out. They don't do well with high humidity. The only time I would let the humidity increase (I used a humid hide with slightly moist sphagnum) was when they were blue. As soon as the shed was off, the humid hide was removed. I never had shed problems using this method, and this also allowed me to avoid respiratory problems from prolonged high humidity. I also used small water dishes rather than a larger size. High temps 85 - 90, low temp no lower than 75. Mine (I had a M/F pair) were both a little timid, liked multiple hides (one on each end), plenty of cover, and were primarily nocturnal. They did not like to be held and were rarely out moving around before sunset, so not the best display animals (if that's what you are looking for). Beautiful creatures, though.
