Lol hm. I don't "pet" mine like a dog. I pick her up and watch her crawl through my hands.
I don't think they like being petted, or restrained.

Oh man, I'll go against the grain here and say I baby talk to my animals and it's borderline ridiculous. If I open a tub, it's followed by "Good morning my beautiful prince/princess, you look so beautiful today ohmygoodness, I can't believe what a pretty prince/princess you are. I think I love you now more than I did before just because youlooksocutetodayyesyoudo. Want to come out and see mummy? Ohyesyoudo and mummy wants to see you too, you beautiful boy/girl you "

So I think it also goes without saying that I pet them

I know everyone says they don't have feelings and react on instinct. But I have some that love to be massaged and don't even mind me running their head a little.

I handle all my reptiles, I don't "pet" my snakes (I do pet my turtle, he loves getting his shell rubbed!), but I hold them and talk to them all the time.

I stroke my balls haha but I talk to them when I'm doing thing with them specially if their being crabby and trying to bite. The kinda GF says its funny watching me do snake or rat chores because I'm the only person she's seen who will try and reason with them or talk to them but never baby talk I'm a big boy haha
