Hog Island Boa

Hello, I'm interested in purchasing a hog island boa and I'm looking for a well trusted breeder. From what I learned when researching online, there are many breeders with hybrid hog island boas. I do not want that. I only want a pure line hog island boa. Could somebody point me to the right direction?

I am curious, what do you look for in a Hog Island Boa? I just don't want to buy a low quality hog. More or less black speckles good or bad? And the more yellow their tail is, the better? Thanks.

Speckling in Hog Island boas is more of a preference thing. Some people like it others prefer the cleaner hoggies.

In the wild, hoggies are heavily speckled and darker looking. Breeders have created a cleaner more colorful looking boa through line breeding.

What about coloration? I see some with reddish hue and some with yellow hue. Does it make any difference? And what about the length of these hues. I've noticed that some hogs has coloration from the tail to close to mid-section and others would lose its color before the mid-section. Thanks.

No, it doesn't make any difference at all. Again, it's primarily a matter of preference. Just like in Colombian boas, there are natural variations in the wild-type.

Considering color, there are hypo hogs out there which, because Hogs are considered naturally hypomelanistic, is like having a double dose of the hypo gene, but most of these animals are not 100% pure Hog.
