I almost feel bad, but then I remember what they were bred for in the first place. Some do get to be spared though, thats how we got Captain Rat-Face, he was due to be boa food but he just stood out to much and was kept

I feel bad every time, but that's life.

    Re: Just a LIL guilt?

Eh they're bred for meat, same as cows, pigs, chickens... or dogs if you're Asian

I felt a little bad the first couple times but I got over it. I felt kinna bad the first time I gassed a whole litter of baby rats I had raised up. I feel bad slightly if I have to feed off one I liked a lot and was going to keep but had something go wrong with it health-wise.

The first few times always hurt the most, just keep going, it gets better.

    Re: Just a LIL guilt?

I feed F/T only so that isn't an issue for me but, I can see how some of your feeders could become like more of a pet.
Rats are cool little animals in their own right after all.
So, no I don't think you are unusual at all or "wussy" for feeling regret.
If you continue breeding and feeding live I would suggest taking steps to not become attached to your snake food as a pet.

    Re: Just a LIL guilt?

I actually used to have pet rats looooong before I ever thought I'd ever own, or even want snakes. They make my allergies crazy so I didn't get any more after they passed. I had one seriously live to be 7 years old, and she ate candy all the time. She might have lived longer but she developed a tumor the size of a golfball.
