    First season.... first ovy

I have a solid 4 pairings with good visual locks so far and a few more possibles before the season is over. First ovy ever here- 1.0 Pied x 0.1 Pastel. Eight visual locks with this pairing. I was going to purchase a 1.0 Pastel Het Pied, but decided to produce my own since I had what I needed. Last pairing was on 3/17/13 and they just unlocked yesterday and left a mess in her tub. I opened it today for a cleaning and found her like this!! Surprise!!

She was not the first I expected to go... more like the 3rd based on follicle size. Either way she is definitely on her way. No pre-ovy shed and I never noticed a glowing either. There goes that theory out the window with her. Last shed was 12/20/12.

2010, 0.1 Pastel in ovy. Last weight a few weeks ago was 2005g and she hasn't eaten in two months. Any 1.0 Pastel Het Pieds will see the 0.1 Pied in the tub above her next season.

Here's dad- 2008, 1.0 Pied originally produced by Peter Kahl. We call him "Holmes" for a good reason

Incubator has been running for a few months now since I first started to see my pairings start locking.

I gave up on guessing which one would be first and when. If you've been getting solid locks, it will happen soon enough.

I started pairing early cause some of my females were young as well as were some males also. I think that got them jump started, but who knows? For my first year I'll be happy with the 4 solid females I have had locking this season, because I know there are many more fruitful pairings coming next season

By this time last year I had one clutch in the incubator. 4 females just started seeking the cool side. Waiting is the worst part. Waiting for this, then that. It never ends.

Congrats Corey, I'm seeing good signs but no Ovy yet. That pastel male is a stud.
