    Why "upgrade" enclosures??

I don't know about everyone here, but I have never upgraded my enclosures. I am no expert, but I have successfully raised 2 bps without ever getting them a bigger enclosure. The 2 youngsters I have acquired in the past were both under 300grams, and were put straight into a 48''x18''x18'' tank...however there were numerous hides (2 identical ones, one on each side of the tank) as well as numerous fake plants and foliage for hiding places. They eat, poop, and sleep just like any normal snake does.
I think giving anything the "bare minimum" is a little silly. I also have a crestie, and the moment I brought her home she was in her 18x18x24 tank and never had an issue with her either.
Think about it for a second...these animals come from the wild...where yes the bps spend most of their time in termite mounds and such, but they do come out and look for prey...and not just in a 3 feet area.
    Just some food for thought.

Not all animals will do OK in that environment, some will. We should do what is best for the animals that we have. The first BP I had started in a 55g tank. She did fine as well, but now I start then in smaller tubs and graduate them as they grow. It really is more about them, and making them thrive.

I try to pick the best for them too, like a couple of my snakes seem more comfortable in a smaller enclosure, while some seem to like larger and like to move around more. I just try to pay attention to what they like and try to accommodate them

    Re: Why "upgrade" enclosures??

I agree that a lot of it has to do with the snake. I had one where I had to start her in a 28qt tub at 70g because that was all I had. She hated it and refused to eat. I had to clutter the tub to the point where I couldn't see the newspaper bedding...then she began to eat for me. I also have another who is 700g in a 28qt tub with no hides and he still eats like a champ.
