Have you had a lock @ Ovulation?
Here is the deal I have one girl that I have been pairing this year. I'm not good at palpating at all I think I feel something then I don't so my philosophy behind this is I need to acquire more females so I will get better at it She is confusing the heck out of me, every since she wrapped a rat wrong back in January. She bounced around her tub from cool to heat for about 2 weeks or so then back to cool side. I haven't read anything about them being locked at ovulation so that is why I am asking, I put a O? on her chart on Feb. 28th. Male locked with her on 27th around 8pm and stayed locked until sometime on March 1st while I was at work. Here is a short timeline for her.
Shed 2-7-13
lock 2-27-13
Ovulation ? 2-28-13
Shed 3-17-13
So has anybody had a lock at ovulation? I've read the day before etc. but nothing about being locked during an ovulation?

What made you think she ovulated on the 28th?

Her swell for one but I asked around and was told it's not possible to have a lock at ovulation. I didn't even write it down on her actually chart just flipped it over and wrote the date on the back with a ? mark. Obviously I couldn't tell if there was a tail suck since they were hooked up but she hasn't ate since Feb 9. Then the fact that she went into shed shortly afterwards and went into her water dish and stayed there until she shed. She has never once soaked in her water dish. She is coiled on heat now and has been since she shed out. So was just wondering if anyone has had it happen before or if I should call it for the year since she is back on heat full time.

I don't believe any female ball python would lock up during ovulation, day before yes, day or two after maybe, but not during

Jerry they were locked for almost 48hrs...........my boy likes his loving and it's normal for him to lock that long. The day in question would have been about 16 hrs after they first locked, I tried to feel her but didn't want to interrupt to much but where I felt she just felt normal. I know that I'm done pairing for the year since she is back on the heat but was hoping for a clutch this year. There is always next year she should be pushing an easy 3k plus by then. So maybe she will make up for it lol.

I'm not doubting on whether they were locked, I just find it difficult to believe a female would remain locked during ovy.
