    I don't know that you can say racks are the "best" for balls. Racks are great but not for everyone in every situation. I have glass tanks, pvc cages, and tubs. All provide the needed habitat and my snakes are all doing great.

    My ball is in a glass tank and you can usually find her every night hiding in the cover watching the outside world. Now I can not say she enjoys this but you can not say she doesn't.

    Taking care of one or two I think is about the same amount of work and you should be able to handle that with ease.

    My only word of caution is about plans for school. Don't think that your parents will give the needed care if you go away for school or the school will not allow them. Craigslist always have ads from parents left with pets when their kid leaves the nest.
