    ball eating fish

im just curious ..i found an add for a ball python..im not looking to get it...but i noticed it had fish in the water bowl...will a ball python eat the fish if it is hungry enough? i know it sounds like a stupid question..i would never feed anything but mice and rats..but i also dont understand why they would have fish in the water bowl with it.

The fish are probably just decorative, like having live plants. No, the BP wouldn't eat them. Personally, I wouldn't want fish pooping in the water my animals drink, either.

Unless it were filtered. I've seen some crazy BP setups with lives plants, water falls, and tropical fish in heated and filtered water. Looks amazing but I could never have to patience and dedication to deal with that.

Yea fish in the water wouldnt be a big deal if they had a filter, which they probably have if they want the fish to live any amount of time.. they need their water clean as well.

When we set up our monitor habitat I am going to have a big pond setup that will have fish in it as well. Proper maintenance is key if your going to do something like that

there was no filter it was just one of those water/food bowls that kind of look like a rock. that you usually see for hermit crabs but bigger..and the ball was drinking out of it with a couple of goldfish in it.... the other pictures the fish were gone

They may have taken the fish out when they realized the snake wouldn't eat them, or the fish died - hard to be sure. I've never personally heard of a ball python eating fish either.

Poor fish. Goldfish need 30 gallons. And I'm sure the BP doesn't appreciate the poopy mess goldfish leave. They are very messy fish.
