    albino/sunglow question *DUW*

ok I feel like an idiot! but i'm gonna ask anyway. how do you tell the difference between the two. I purchased a baby as an albino yesterday. the owner just said it was albino. I didn't get any real info as it was a CL ad and they were really annoying to deal with but for the price I scooped it up. well when I went to check its tub today I saw that it had shed. Now I thought no pattern in the shed meant the presence of the hypo gene. I know that to be true with most other species but is it different in boas? my hypo arabesque sheds are clear. I know it could be difficult to see a pattern in an albino but wouldn't the tail pattern be pretty well visible? The shed is completely clear, no tail pattern in it at all. It would be sweet to have picked up a sunglow at a rock bottom albino price but i'm probably not that lucky. either way i'm happy with my new pick up. I love his color around his tail pattern! heres a couple quick cell pics. maybe someone will be able to tell me something. thanks folks

If that is a normal albino, it is radiant.......

Sunglows will have a much more bright, orange pattern. The pattern will be more distinct too. As an adult, the colors will stay more vivid - base color will yellow out some, but the pattern will still stand out orange. The adult albino will often loose a lot of the pattern as they age. They will be more overall yellow. The babies can have distinct patterns, but the pattern is more pink than orange and somewhat less vivid.

I don't know for sure if your baby is a sunglow or not. It is a pretty spectacular albino though!!

Thank you! Heck of a CL find imo. Talked them down to $150 on it. What about the clear shed/hypo thing can Yw clear that up for me?

Its a regular albino IMO, I'm not seeing any sunglow in that snake. Nice baby!

Compared to other Sunglow's I've seen, she looks a bit too faded to be one. But not by much! What a beauty.

Thank you. Either way im happy but can you elaborate. I'd like to know exactly how to tell the difference. The clear shed has me confused. Unless its just so faint I can't see it.

Good looking boy, my male sharp albino shed a few days after I got him and his shed was clear, I don't remember seeing any pattern at all but I didn't look for a pattern just the length of it and eye caps.

He looks very orange, do you know if he's Kahl or Sharp?

From just looking at ads i think sunglows tend to be brighter all around and clean in between saddles, not sure if this is a "rule" more of what I've noticed though.

My Sharp line albino female sheds totally clear, there's no pattern or otherwise on her shed.

But my reasoning for saying she's a regular albino is that though she has nice color, it's not as "sharp" and crisp as sunglows. Her saddles are blurred out like many albinos, and the contrast between that and her body isn't there. Plus many sunglows will have bow-tie shaped saddles like hypos.

Look at how clean and crisp this sunglow is: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...d1/sunglow.jpg (not my image)
Here's a sunglow who doesn't have much contrast or saddle color as the one above but you can still see how different it is when compared to other albinos (ie the coloring): http://www.exoticserpents.com/Availa...unglow%29.html (not my image)

Here's my albino when she was younger (looks to be around the same size as your girl):

She was super clean and crisp pattern-wise like sunglows, but I knew she was no sunglow. She just doesn't look like a sunglow, and I don't believe yours is either. Nothing wrong with that!
