    Help!!!

In need of any information regarding keeping ball pythons in PA. A recent decision by a family court judge ordered the removal of my collection of roughly 10-12 ball pythons at the request of my fiancés ex-husband. In his request he stated that my collection is a safety concern to his (2) children living in our home. All of my snakes are now being kept in our basement and away from actual living quarters, I left a message for the judge explaining to her that these animals are ALL captive bred and none are wild caught animals and pose little to no threat to the safety of the children, including my own daughter who is 10. My daughter and I have been keeping snakes of all kinds since she was 2-3 years old and there have not been any problems concerning safety or health problems. I'm in search of any info on my rights going forward either in fighting the decision on my own or through an attorney. I thank you for any and all help with this matter ASAP as I'm not sure how long I have to respond or abide to this unfortunate decision.

You are not going to get the help you need here on the forum. You will get a lot of sympathy and agreement that the ball pythons do not pose a danger. In fact, I would caution you to not say anything more on a public forum regarding a legal issue.

If you are under court order to have them removed from the home, then I would suggest you comply fully with the order. In the basement may not comply with that order because it is still in the home. Your best means for fighting this is not on your own, but with a competent counselor who knows the law and how to help you. Go hire a competent attorney.

Just remember the proverb - a man who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client.

I too, wish you the best of luck with a skilled lawyer to defend and protect your right to own these great animals.

    Help!!!

Lawyer up. If you have to remove the collection, I'd relocate them to a friend's house or family's.

Beating this legally and by their rules sets a great example for similar cases, and you won't get yourself in more trouble for trying to get around the order. Maybe consult with your legal counsel about contacting USARK. If you try to shimmy past this by bending rules it will reflect on the rest of us, as it always does. (We would all know the headline "Person ignores court order and endangers children with pythons" would be utter bull, but anyone outside of the hobby wouldn't)

Good luck, it really is a crappy situation
