    Paleo diet success or not?

We lost weight, felt better, and never had that "crash" feeling after eating. We want to go back on it, pretty much as soon as we can afford it. We did the whole grass-fed beef thing etc, so it got expensive quick.

Once we both get back on the horse employment wise, we'll definitely be going back to it. I miss feeling great every day!
This is what me and my boyfriend plan to do when we get to our weight we want.

i feeling great after starting this diet. I have more energy. Most importantly I have been happy and full of life XD

    Paleo diet success or not?

Any "diet" will work in terms of losing weight. It's as simple as putting your self into a caloric deficit.
People get rich off of selling a bogus swing on it. Don't eat past 6, don't eat carbs, don't do this don't eat that. All complete bull poop
You can lose weight eating pizza and ice cream every single day if you truly wanted to. I don't recommend it but you could.
Eat in moderation and exercise, and make sure you don't go over your Maintenance caloric intake and you will lose weight. You don't need to buy into a diet with a cool name, they are all fads.

Pizza and ice cream? Well I don't know about that lol. But the calorie counting never worked for me. And I was very unhappy most of the time. I wasn't allowed to go over 1200 in a day if I wanted to lose weight. Some meals are that by itself. Plus in a month maybe I lost 1 pound and that's about all.

In 2010 I did this diet not knowing it was paleo. But all I ate was meat, fruits and veges (no potatoes) and I went from 240 to 175 in 7 months. I lost track of it when I started to date lol. But I gained back 20 pounds in two or three years. So I don't think I was that bad.

When my coworkers (also my friends) were talking about competition on who can lose the most weight in a month with this paleo diet I thought it'd be fun. So I started to do the paleo and I was surprised how close it was to my diet I did back in 2010, which was my doctors instruction to what I should focus on when eating. So I don't think it's bad. I didn't pay anything to learn about this diet. So it didn't cost me anything. All I have to do is go to a grocery store and by my groceries. Cook for myself and eat what I can eat. I actually lost weight and I saved money. For me it's definitely a lifestyle that I can handle. Especially if I'm motivated to keep it up. And a good motivation is losing weight when you are actually trying to.

I don't follow the paleo diet or any other diet by name, but since the time I got pregnant (over a year ago now), I started working harder on improving my diet. I knew I had to be healthy to support the baby I was growing, and I had to be a healthy example if I wanted her to grow up knowing how to make proper diet choices. I do not drink milk, never really did like it, still don't, but I do eat dairy. I am not a vegetarian, but I limit the amount of meat I eat. I do eat grains, but I am also trying to increase the amount of whole vegetables I eat. Fruit in moderation. Water more than any other beverage. The biggest part of my "diet" is cutting out the processed foods as much as possible (and as much as I'm willing... sorry I can't give up my once-in-awhile treat of ice cream! lol), cooking from scratch as much as possible, and eating whole foods as much as possible. Now I am by no means perfect, I still slip now and again, but for me it isn't about perfection, it is about improvement and willingly making healthy choices. On Ash Wednesday I gave up fast food cold turkey, and have only had one fast food meal since then (a breakfast meal...).

So having said that... I started out before pregnancy on the higher end of the "healthy" range for my height and age. During pregnancy I gained about 24 pounds. Within a month after the birth of my child, without trying anything special, without exercise (because most of that time was spent just trying to recover from the c-section I ultimately needed....), I was down 40 pounds from my pregnancy weight. That's 15 pounds LESS than my pre-pregnancy weight. Since then I've fluctuated a little, but on average I'm still holding at 10 pounds lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight. I have not been following any kind of exercise regime either, just focusing on making healthy eating choices a habit that doesn't require careful thinking and planning. Soon I'll be starting the busy field season and work, which means hiking up to 6 or 7 hours a day in varied terrain and summer heat! That's probably going to help me lose more weight.

In the end, I feel comfortable with my body and comfortable with my choices. When I came back to work from maternity leave, my coworkers all commented on how good I look despite having just had a baby! lol
Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

I'm a vegetarian so the "paleo" diet wouldn't work for me, but you don't need to follow a strict diet such as the paleo in order to get healthy, fit, and lose weight in the mean time.

If you want to do it and it works for you, great! I just think people are getting too caught up in these new, strict diets, and they won't be able to sustain them. Don't get caught in the "all-or-nothing" mentality. Do a lot of research, and start slow in order to increase your chances of sustaining a diet such as this!

Reach for the stars, and if you don't grab them at least you'll fall on top of the world.

I don't really exercise, I just don't eat as much. I guess what I do is not go over a calorie limit, but I generally eat whatever I want. I'm 5'9" at 150. I do want to work on my arms though, but that's working out lol.

Since your a vegetarian, do you have insight of how to cook some yummy veggie sides? I've been looking for some interesting new veggies to cook. Like artichoke and green beans. I'm not very good at it. But maybe you have some good ideas?

Me and my boyfriend do our "cheats" once and a while. So we aren't very strict strict. I have to have a sweet once and a while. And I need coffee with cream and sugar. So it's not hard core. But for the most part we have been doing pretty good. And losing while still having our cheat days XD. You're the second person I've met that's a vegetarian so nice to me you!

I know you weren't talking to me, but I wanted to share my favorite way to do veggies. Anything roasted is fantastic. Oven at 400 degrees, toss veggies with olive oil and salt/pepper and roast them until they're done to your liking. My favorites are broccoli, green beans and baby carrots done that way. Mmm!
