Hey guys, Its been awhile since I actually legit posted on this forum, been a bit busy. But anyways, I've come with a question on, is Coco husk okay for Red-tail boas? As you remember Poprocks (for those of you who have read my few but very one snake related posts), my red-tail, well, she has become very skittish, very jumpy lately, and I am not sure why, I figured it was because I started using coco fiber (coco husk) for her new substrate because I was noticing that she got splinters everywhere, a few in her nostrils and even one in her eye cap! But if coco husk isn't good for her I'll switch back to cypress because that's what I find to be more common, and just use the coco husk for my Leopard gecko's humid hide. I've also figured its because she can't burrow, though I swore that she could in coco husk it appears to be to dense for her. Also a little update she is in a much bigger terrarium now with lots of plants to cover her and vines to climb on.

Anyways, I've already read the BCI care sheet and it said nothing about coco husk not being okay, it contains humidity very well, but if I need to switch back to cypress I will, shes never been so jumpy. She hasn't tried to bite yet but occasionally she will come up to the glass when I'm staring at her and follow me as if she doesn't know what I am, its kinda cute but scary at the same time.

But yeah, I hope you guys can help me out, if this is not helping her then I'll just switch back to cypress mulch to make her more comfortable and some how keep it from giving her splinters.

Thanks,

Kaala
