Question about Candy and Toffee, appearance of subadults

    Hi there!

first, this is not a genetics question, i know about how albino and candy and toffee work together.

but one thing got me confused: if i look up the two morphs in the big morph list and look at the pictures, i believed that something got mixed up. It looked as if half of the pictures (all the snakes with red eyes) are candinos or toffinos instead of candy and toffee, which look more dark and distinct.

so i asked the guys at worldofballpythons.com if maybe some of the pictures got mixed up or something. They responded that all candys and toffees look very much like albinos as babies and subadults, and change their appearance to the more distict candy or toffee look later.

So basically, according to them, homozygous toffee baby/subadult:

the same morph as an adult:

do these morphs really change so much with age? Thanks

Yes, freshly hatched candys and toffees look similar to regular albinos and change color as they age.

Yes. They are born looking like albinos. As Dave said, they change with age.
