galaxy nexus is no doubt a solid phone, my brother has had his for a while and has zero complaints. If you ever get bored of it, being a nexus device the unlocking and rooting tools are easy to use and available all over, even a novice shouldn't have any problem flashing custom roms over if they wish. Personally my favorite launcher is nova so far. Beauty of android, so many choice to find what suits your needs.
