Humidity with moss

I've been having trouble with humidity in my sons glass enclosure. I know glass isn't ideal but it is what it is. Has anyone had any luck using terrarium moss to help? I was thinking of spreading some around the cage to hold some moisture when I mist. Any thoughts?

Covering most of your mesh on top will help keep in humidity and heat. You can use a damp towel, aluminum foil, or Glad "Press n Seal" to name a few. I use insulated bubble wrap because it's readily available for me. You can see in the pic a 10 gallon with my lamp suspended on an Exo Terra lamp stand. It's all sealed up except for the hole cut out for heat. Also using sphagnum moss is a great way to up humidity. You just have to wet it down every couple days.



I went through the same issues until I replaced my top mesh screen with plexiglass and turned the tank on it's side. Now it holds humidity like a dream. Here's a pic

I just used a 10gal aquarium for my new arrival I put in quarantine. I cover 2/3 of the screen top with a warm, wet hand towel (thoroughly wet, but not dripping) and I use moss on the cool side so the overhead light doesn't burn doesn't dry it out so fast. You can see the moss in my avatar pic surrounding her water dish. I re-wet the towel every other day...takes like 2 minutes.

Keeps humidity consistently 50%-60% with no problem. I mist the moss more often during shed.

I second the idea about putting something covering most of the lid (cardboard, a damp towel, plexiglass, aluminum foil, etc). You can also switch your bedding to cypress much and mix in some sphagnum moss in his hides. Just mist this twice a day and it should help your humidity.

My ball is in a 40gal tank. I covered most of the top and use moss in the hides. I wet it every couple of days during non shed times and keep it moist during a shed. Doing this does not keep the overall tank humidity up but does create a humid micro climate inside the hides and since that is where your snake usually is it benefits most from it. Using this method I always have good sheds.
