1. What are your cage temperatures?
2. What are you using to heat the cage?
3. What are you using to measure temperatures?

Re: Possible scale rot?

Cages temperatures is about 80 degrees f
I am using an inferred light in a lamp at the top of the cage for heating
I use a thermometer in cage to measure the temperatures and
I use careFRESH ultra bedding (cellulose fiber) for a substrate.

The entire cage is 80 F? Do you have a hot side/cool side of the cage?

Re: Possible scale rot?
cool side is average 80 and hot side averages around 85

I would bump the hot side up a few degrees. The ideal ranges are 78-82 cool side, 88-92 hot side.

Re: Possible scale rot?
i was mistaken, the cool side is average 80 and the hot side is average 90
honestly this is my first time owning a snake, but i do realize i need a more accurate thermometer.
Supplies for snakes are often hard to come by where i live.

Re: Possible scale rot?
any idea what could be causing the discolored scales?

From the pictures I don't think its scale rot, but I would keep a close eye on it just in case.

Re: Possible scale rot?
Oh thank gosh i was so worried, i love this snake more then my life!
I read online that a good way to deal with a mild case of scale rot was using betadine diluted in a bath tub, letting you snake soak for about 20 mins
Do you recommend i do this even if im not sure if this is indeed scale rot?
