    Around where I live, medium rats are usually around 150-200g. That is pretty big for a 800g snake. We should feed between 10-15% of the ball python's weight. 10-15% of a 800g rat is 80-120g. People who do not go off the numbers feed by the size of the snake's body. Your medium rat is much bigger than your snake as demonstrated by the difficulty it had in eating.
