    First Weigh in!

I'm sorry to say that after two years I have just recently gotten a scale! So this is my first weigh in! All healthy and happy animals (just finished handling and checking over them all too, minus Henry)!

Trouser (BP) - 1247 grams, is only taking a Large Rat every month
Lactose (Nelson Milk) - 64 grams, eating a pinky every five days
Gilligan (Checkered Garter) - 16 grams, eating a earth worm and minnow every week
Henry (Chilean Rose) - 29 grams, eating six crickets a week

lol your bp trouser.... I've got a trouser snake too. lol
and feeding once a month? maybe just me but i'd really rather see smaller meals more often. just seems like a long time to go between meals. i've always thought for balls a 2 week schedule was considered a maintanence diet and anything less often just seems like a diet.

I offer every other week but he doesn't take more than once a month (like clock work). I switched to two week schedule a while back but he still refuses. He is being weird and it kills me because I know his husbandry is being met! He is frustrating but I love him and he looks fantastic if i might say so!

Don't get me wrong I wasn't trying to rip on you for the way you are feeding him. Just expressing my opinion. I have a male that eats weekly but never eats November to march like clockwork. First week of November he quits eating and starts back eating about the middle to end of march. I try offering every week though. He only loses 20-35 grams during that time so I don't worry to much.

    Re: First Weigh in!

Not saying that your feeding practice is wrong, but have you tried offering small rats weekly instead of large? Large is too much for that size of snake weekly in my opinion. So that's probably why he's only feeding monthly, which isn't really an issue.

All of my adults get small rats. Medium would be my largest size.

Either way, do whatever works for you and your animal.

That would make sense, thats what I do for my Milk Snake and he is probably my best eater by far. I'll switch to small rats and see how that goes!

Trouser did this to me last year (although not as long as this), so that could be it too!
