Mouse too big? (photos)

Not entirely sure where to post this. I got the smallest Pinkie I could get my hands on to feed my baby corn snake, but I worry it's still too large. I'm attaching a photo of the mouse next to a water bottle cap, as well as photo of the snake next to the same cap. Can you tell me if it's too large?

Thank you, I'm not used to baby snakes so I'm still a little thrown on what size is right for them. Much appreciated, I didn't want to give him one that was too large

Hard too tell, looks like the mouse might be a little bigger around than the snake. But I would think it should be fine. Not sure about corns, but rule of thumb with balls is same size around as snakes widest part.

That pinky should be fine. You'd be surprised what they can get their mouths around.

Rule I heard and go by is 1 to 1 1/4 the width of the largest part of the snake.

In my experience, corns can eat a little larger than their width. You have to keep in mind ball pythons are thick bodied snakes. Corns are thinner, thus you can feed larger prey.

Awesome!! Thank you so much! I just don't want to give him prey too big. I had him scenting it the entire time. He had no problems swallowing it! Thanks!

Don is correct. Corns can, will, and do eat prey larger around than themselves with no problem. Rule I always followed was the head of the mouse being equal to or less than the widest part of the snake. The rest of the body will collapse as they swallow but the skull won't squish quite so easily. Looks like a nice, happy little baby you have there.
