So impatient
I've been having locks since November and I've seen bowl wrapping cold side sitting hot side sitting pissy attitudes ravinous eating and no apparent ovies. Are just getting fat or is it something else.

3 threads in 6 minutes - definitely impatient! If you're still seeing locks (as evidenced by the pic with that HOT pastel male), then you haven't missed your ovy, it just hasn't happened yet. I have 10 females breeding, and only one ovy so far.

I have no advice, just sympathy, as I also have this feeling.

Re: So impatient
I've had a girl been paired since OCTOBER and she only has marble sized follicles and still locking with my male. I've still got a few months left I feel.

Re: So impatient
I'm anxious but not discouraged this is a wonderful hobby and it gives you so much to look forward too. I'll bet it really gets crazy when you actually have eggs incubating can't wait. Thanks all especially you Anna I look forward to meeting you one day.

I wish it was harder to breed these beauties, but alas it's so easy anyone with a tub and some heat can make babies.
So you are breeding and have extra time, maybe focusing on other aspects to the hobby ...
Is your incubator up and running?
Have you studied how to put together, and then put together your egg boxes and tested them for when you have eggs?
Is your hatchling rack ready for babies?
Have a paypal set up for when you have babies to sell?
how about a ship your reptiles/fed-ex shipping account?
There's 50 things I could come up with that one needs to do/learn before getting eggs
I'm not knocking you here, just giving advise, there's far more to this hobby than pairing snakes and getting eggs.

Jerry has a good point. This is the time to be fixated on all the other details of the hobby. Whatever you do, don't kill time perusing Kingsnake, here, and Fauna! Waiting for eggs/hatchlings fuels the addiction even more!
Miles - We'll definitely have to say hello at Atlanta in April!

I'm completley guilty of that even BEFORE the possibilities of eggs. However, Like Jerry mentioned, I'm working on other things. Next up on my to-do-list: SYR account.

Re: So impatient
I have been getting ready. I have shipped with SYR and I'm registered there but I don't know if I have to have a specific kind of account to ship as a breeder. I'll check into that thanks. As far as a hatchling rack I figured I have a few months to get that it is my next purchase, I've decided on a cserpant 18 tub hatchling rack. That's my next purchase. As far as incubation I'm ready I just need to add water to my vermiculite perlite mix already in tubs. I haven't decided if I'm going to use light grate or put the eggs directly on the mixture. What do you think k Anna?

So impatient
I use a light diffuser so that I don't have to worry about over-wetting the substrate. I also use the sterilite latching lid 7-qt tubs, without press 'n seal. I just got my first v-18 rack from cserpents in January and absolutely love it!
