Tub Set-up Question
Hi I recently set up a 16 qt sterilite tub for a ball python. I attached a Zoomed UTH (10-20 gallon range) as my heat source, but I didn't peel off the white backing. I stuck it to the bottom of the tub using aluminium tape on the edges of the heat pad. Was wondering if it's ok if I leave the backing on or should I take it off. The heat pad is connected to a herpstat 2 set for 90F. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It's up to you...it shouldn't hurt it leaving the paper on as it'll never get hot enough to do any damage or anything. I love aluminum tape btw, stuff holds forever! I would leave it as it so that when he/she outgrows that tub, you can just peel it off and retape it to the new one

I didn't like the idea of heating the paper so took the glass from a photo frame and stuck the mat to the glass. I taped the mat on the glass to the bottom of the tank and so far, so good.

The paper isn't being heated anymore than if you were to lay on top of it...the hot spot should only be @92ish...there is not danger there..

Get some tin foil, peel off the white backing and stick the tin foil on instead.
