I love watching the females swipe the tubs clean with their tails
Unfortunately the only reason they are close to each other is she's telling him no, it's what females do with a male they decide not to breed with at the moment.
It doesn't mean they won't, but it probably means they won't this time.
If you have a strong male breeder, especially with size, they will power through it and force their way on top of a female and go from there with their attempts at breeding.
But new males and smaller males don't usually have the power to over-power a big female, which is partly why I LOVE big male breeders.
Keep trying, he'll find her in a better mood eventually
*the other thing to notice is where her tail is, that is another sign of her saying no, she's sitting on her tail
