    Hmm.
    See if you have a lightbulb on your white balance setting.
    ISO 100
    Shutter Speed 125
    Aperture around 5.6 - 8

    Might want to check to make sure the lens is clean. If it's a removable lens, make sure the inside is clean too.

    You can try to take a pic of a darker snake or object and see if your are getting that "blur" look.

    And now back to drooling over those snakes :p
