    But the snake in question is what happens when people do that without making certain there is a stuck eyecap to remove. Basically it leaves the eye completely exposed and unprotected and it nearly always gets infected.

    Since a stuck eyecap really isn't that big a deal in comparison we normally tell people not to try and remocve it just make sure the humidity is right for the next shed. Or use something like a damp pillowcase that won't tear the living spectacle off an eye.

    People can make mistakes easily so you get used to being cautions with advice.
