    "help" form

    Hi guys
I was on a leopard gecko forum and I saw that they had everyone fill out a basic info form when they posted a question about the health of their leo ect. It looks like this: http://theleopardgeckoforum.com/topic134-please-read-and-fill-out-with-your-health-questions

I was thinking maybe we should implement this type of thing as well but not so extensive? I think it would help a lot of this was a "norm" in our forum because I see that a lot of people don't feel like this is important information to give to us when they come with a question. And sometimes they don't give out this information because they think "everything is fine". THis is a little sample I typed up. They're not in order which is bad but it's something quick. If we like this idea we should try making a list most of us agree on and section it out properly!

Not a bad idea! I would make it a little more concise so it is easier to fill out.

I think I've also seen other forums do this as well. Seems to be much easier than having to ask all those questions every time someone has a problem.

It's nothing new many of those questions are the ones that some of us ask any time someone experience and issue with their animal which in the case of new owner is likely to be husbandry related.

And you are right in most cases many opt not to answer as they believe that their setup is perfect.

Yeah exactly. I cant name exact threads but there were a lot of cases where they basically refused to answer temp questions and some are even offended. So if we made this a norm they wont fight to the death regarding this. There are some things I missed but if we all can sit and add or subtract questions on here and sticky it. We can casually ask new ones to copy paste information

So Deb, is there any chance we could work on narrowing these questions down to a few useful Q's and sticky it in the Husbandry section?

No one would be REQUIRED to use it, but it would be a helpful tool for newbies looking for some quick help!

I like this idea...not as a requirement, as was mentioned, but as a helpful tool folks can point to when it seems relevant to do so. And while not everyone who needs it will use it...some will, and that would be nice.

I'll work on this over the weekend.

I think this is an awesome idea! In fact, I think that a lot of people could figure out what their problem is simply by filling this out and examining their answers themselves.

I feel like if we some what enforced this then we can all rule out "common" problems like the temps being too cold and get to the point very quickly. I think this would belong more in the husbandry section. If all the people that asked questions filled out a quick thing like this on their original thread we can help the owner quicker. Thanks for taking a look at it!

The Betta forum I used to frequent had one of these and it's a really good idea, really makes finding/giving help a lot easier to do for everyone involved also gives people something to refer to right off the bat so the same question isn't brought up over and over again. :u
