Assistance finding Gerrhosauraus Major ( Sudan plated lizard )
Hi, I've been searching high and low for one of these guys, I'm hoping to buy one from a local store, since I'm lucky enough to have a store somewhat close buy that knows reptiles.
If they can't get one in for me, I'd like to be able to find one online, I've found them a few places, however from stores that don't have a very good reputation. I understand I will most likely not find a CB animal,
I think the only store I found G. Major in stock was at General Exotics, I've read bad things about them.
I'm in North Carolina if that helps at all. I really appreciate the help, thanks.

Re: Assistance finding Gerrhosauraus Major ( Sudan plated lizard )
We actually have some listed on our website as "Ornate Plated Lizards" - no pictures of the current group up yet, but that's what they are.
I have not heard of anyone in the States captive producing them, but they ARE super neat lizards, and I am extremely fond of them. We have Madagascar Plated Lizards too, which are pretty and also neat.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. You are sure these are G. Major? Not the larger species of sudan plated lizards? I did see ornate plateds on your site, but I did not see the proper name listed. I'm on the east coast, so shipping that far in winter is really something I want to avoid. I will keep you in mind, especially if my local store cannot get them and it warms up a little.

Yep, looked at them myself. The latin name isn't up there yet, but sudan plated and ornate plated are often used interchangeably as common names for the same lizard.
We do guarantee live arrival in temps above 35 degrees, so if your temps are above that they should honestly be okay even in winter. It's entirely up to you, but as a heads up we don't have very many, so they may not stay in stock for very long.
We also do a lot of east coast shows, so maybe we'll be in your neck of the woods sometime this year.

Alright. I've seen you guys at the Raleigh show. I will most likely order if I can't get one locally. I've ordered most of the stuff I need for one, bulbs and whatnot. It'll be a week or so before I could order any animals. I appreciate the help.

if a mod could come in and remove the thread, I'd appreciate it, about to make a new thread about something different.
