Kane heat mats are practically indestructible, and coupled with a kane thermostat, the perfect way to heat large animals. We commonly sell them for large monitors, tortoises, and occasionally for large snake species. They are also sometimes referred to as "pig blankets", although they aren't very blanket-y.
For a ball python, they're kind of major overkill, unless you have an exceptionally large cage that you wish to heat. They're better suited for large reptiles such as adult sulcata tortoises, big monitor lizards (one of my coworkers uses one for her red tegu), and very large snakes, such as adult burmese or reticulated pythons.
Let me know if you have more questions about them! I've used them and helped set them up, they're nice, just definitely best suited for large animals.
