Hi,
It's just a dimmer switch - which means unless your house ambient temps are really stable it will still require you to be constantly monitoring and adjusting it manually.
Heat is the most important part of keeping a reptile and I can't really get excited about a mild ( and probably more expensive ) rehash of a low end idea, sorry.
Nothing beats a thermostat to be honest for peace of mind and animal health.
