    Yet Another First Lock Thread....

    With a twist...

So for the last couple of months, I've been doubting whether or not my male was actually male. He probes barely male (5 or 6 scales...I can't remember which) and doesn't pop male. Upon realizing that I can't properly pop, I didn't try again (I don't want to hurt him) and I've been looking for a teacher with no luck. So, I've been preparing for the day that I might have to call "Jax" by a new name: "Jackie". So questioning my male's sexuality, I had a friend ask me if we wanted to do a breeding loan. I agreed and warned him that I wasn't sure if my male was actually male, but I was willing to try and see.

So, this morning, I woke up to this:

I got excited. I couldn't tell if this was a lock, but I had a suspicion it was just really close to one. I was right. I checked on them a bit later to find him courting her by tickling her with his spurs. I left them alone and checked on them one last time tonight and found this:

I do believe this is my official first lock! Pairing is a Lesser x Pastel. Both are virgin breeders. We're both shooting for pastel lessers...so hopefully the genetics god will give us a male and female for us.

Hopefully my pastel girl there proves herself out as a great breeder!

This lock brought to you in part by gallery furniture's great bedding. (As noted via the newspaper lolol)

Haha! Me too! Even though having another female wouldn't be -that- horrible, it would mean that I had all females with no male for my 2000g normal. So it worked out nicely! Not I just need the big normal and miss Bella to lay some pretty eggs and hatch out pretty babies for me.

7am this morning BHReptiles sent me this photo of her Lesser Male and my Pastel Female at it again. I guess last night after a few days apart she put them back together and this morning at 4:30 when she took the picture (thanks for waiting till 7 to send it to me) they were locked up again for round 2.

I get very excited when I pull out the tubs to do my morning check and there one is! They were locked last night but unlocked this morning. Now it's feeding day and about a week break for the two of them.
