Don't be too scared. I buy some of my f/t from a vendor at our local expo and he gets his supply from Rodent Pro. I've not had a problem with what I've bought from him. Of course, I can kind of inspect what I'm getting before I buy and I do not buy very many (usually just enough to suppliment a specific size I might be running low on), but still.... One thing I've noticed, which a few other people could confirm, is that these rodents are sometimes urine-stained or have bedding/poop stuck to them. Sometimes I feel like I have to clean them before feeding them off to my snakes. I think most people are bothered more from the lack-luster quality than disease.
I have NEVER had those problems with rodents from Layne Labs. Every rodent is perfectly clean, packaged in a straight position, and are packaged dry (so no frozen blocks to pry apart). The quality is unsurpased.
If you are still worried, then just switch where you buy from. There have been several good recommendations already on this thread. If you are only buying for a few snakes, Layne Labs has another good thing going for them because you can order in very small quantities if you want.![]()
