Question about moving a breeding BP female

Hello all, I have a question about traveling with/moving actively breeding female BPs. I haven't found very much info about actually moving them. I prospectively am getting two females and a male which have all locked recently, and are continuing to do so. They are out of state, but I will travel to get them and bring them home. Is it possible to move a female like this with the least amount of stress?? I would hate for her to reabsorb any potential follicles, or otherwise stress her/them out. I thought I had seen some places in the past where people were shipping females who were potentially gravid... Any input on how to do this in the best interest of the snakes is very much welcome. If it helps, we will be driving a Honda Pilot and I am willing to keep the entire back/third-row-down clear for them. The trip will be approximately 9 hours.

Hi,

When I moved house the snakes went back into the racks they had been mating in within 4 hours.

They all stopped breeding immediately and I only got one clutch that year.

In fact today was my first clutch since ( two years on ) - do you have to move them?

I am buying them from someone on here, and that is my only opportunity to get them myself without shipping. Basically, we are going up to visit family and would stop to get the snakes on the way back home. They could stay right in the rack (if it fits in the back of my vehicle) if it would make it less stressful for them - otherwise, I would put them in solid sterilite tubs (to keep it dark and make them feel more secure). I don't think I have any other option as far as moving them...

You do what you have to do, but it's a gamble.
Last season we had 3 absorb after being moved

This is not sounding very great thus far. Has anyone had any SUCCESS in moving? Any tips that might raise my chances of a successful move?

in the 2011 breeding season I got 3 females from the other breeder in our reptile company. he's about 45 minutes away. all 3 had good clutches that year from my male. going to breed 2 different females this year again from him. this is no where near the distance that you will be going. but it was a change for the females that could of cause problems. he has the open snake racks like the freedom breeders. I have the reptile basic cb 70 racks which are much darker and maybe they felt more secure in them with less stress. like others that posted, I can see a move causing breeding issues. but, if you do decide to do it. in the move, keep them warm. I take my coat off in the car and keep the temps in the car more for the snakes and hotter than I would like it.

Okay, thank you! I will keep the car warmer, and if I need to I will get a power converter so that I can run a heat blanket or heat tape while en route. Keep them dark and wish for the best.

You can only do what you can do. I'm getting two females shipped to next week me that have been paired a few times, but no building behavior yet. I'm taking the chance only because my friend has to rehome them before he moves to his new place where he is not allowed pets

I'm crossing my fingers that they take this season, if not I won't be upset.

Thank you at least I know I'm not alone here. I won't be dismayed if it doesn't turn out, after all they are beautiful snakes anyway and I will be glad to have them! I just want to do it as optimally as I can to try and maintain their situation. If I can get advice on how to do this, I would be really grateful!

I think the suggestions you've gotten thus far are good. Keep them warm and try not to move them around too much. Then leave them alone
