Check them out a little then put them up. And I try to feed in a couple days, if they don't eat I give them a day then try again. All my snakes eat voraciously even twice a day if I don't have appropriately sized rats. Maybe I'm just lucky so far

It's more of a precaution thing. I have a tiny boy calico that was very stressed and nippy for about 2 weeks after he arrived. I handled him during that 2 weeks to try and calm him down. He didn't eat anything (live or f/t mice or rats) until after I left him alone for a week or so. Most bps come around but its better to leave em alone for a week or until the first feed. If they feed, they are probly ok with being handled.

I guess its best to take it slow some of these snakes are a big investment. I just haven't had any problems so far knock on wood.

Handling depends on the snake. Once you get to know your bp you'll be able to tell what kinda personality they have. My pastel never wants to be in her tub and loves being held, my cinnamons would both prefer you never take them out of the tub. Just depends on the snake. Once theyre eating regularly though i handle them whenever.

Where did you get her from?? I saw some really nice VPI axanthics while I was cruising through the show

We gotta meet up next time!! Are you guys going to repticon next weekend?

But yeah, its hard to resist handling new pickups. When I only had a couple of snakes I was so anxious to hold them. Now I have enough to keep me busy during the week I need to leave them alone

Its probably not going to be much bigger than AAE, I won't get into it on here, but some people view repticon as competing with AAE even though it is only held twice a year as opposed to twice a month. It is a new show, so there aren't too many people vending yet. I had a nice time when I went during the summer!
