Re: Ripped Nail
I don't know if it would work on a gecko. But theirs stuff you can buy that will stop the bleeding. I think it's called Quick Stop I've used on cats and dogs nails that have been trimmed to short.

How did the nail/toe rip off? Was there stuck shed built up? A nail shouldn't just come off for no reason. I'd check all his toes and make sure they are in good shape. If there is stuck shed gently work at it with a wet Q-Tip, roll it off.

Re: Ripped Nail
I have no idea what happened. I know nails don't just rip off. I think he got it caught on something, pulled, and yanked his nail. It was hanging on the side for a bit then he ripped it off completely. No shed stuck to his toes, I make sure to check him every time he sheds to make sure. I checked the rest of his toes and there's nothing wrong with them. I have no idea what happened and that's probably what worries me the most...

Re: Ripped Nail
Well that sucks, poor fella. Not much you can do though, just keep it clean and watch it. Luckily it stopped bleeding quickly, with a rip or tear like that it may have had the chance to get ugly.
It's just fairly common with stuck shed, so that's what I thought of first.

Re: Ripped Nail
That makes sense that it would be from a stuck shed, but I made sure he didn't have any. He's actually going into shed right now, so I'm going to keep a close eye on him and make sure his injury doesn't get in the way or is further injured when he sheds. That you for the help though, I really apprechatie it.
