Also before there are any comments on my knowledge of how I take care of my snake, I asked these questions because I am unsure of my own answer as to what I should do.

Kaala, I in no way was trying to scold you, or your family or attack you personally at all, I was just pointing out some of MY concerns based on what you said. Your choice to handle it how you want. It is good that you are trying to urge your sister towards a more suitable beginner reptile. I also understand that you cannot control what she does with her money, but speaking to her can hopefully influence her and prevent her from making a poor decision. I think you should worry about building your cage before you worry about spending 100 or more dollars on an animal for your mother. You state money is tight, that sounds like that would not be a wise decision to make. You could probably build a custom enclosure for 100 dollars, and it sounds like from the skills your father has that should be quite easy for you to achieve.

I dont think anyone meant to personally attack you, but from a readers stand point it just looks strange for someone to say that they dont have the money to invest in the animal they already have ( which btw is perfectly understandable in todays economy) but the in the next sentence say that they want to buy something else. A boa is a big financial resposibilty due to just the size alone they get, bigger cages=more heating, bigger and more costly food items. These are things that have to be concidered when choosing this breed. Please dont take it personally.

I wasn't trying to sound like you all were attacking me, I'm a bit stressed with a few things, and you are absolutely correct about my moms reptile, she doesn't need it, and its the guilt tripping attitude that she pulls off, but I've about had it since she wants a salt water aquarium too x-x.
My sister has agreed to stay with a simple animal, and she was looking at a really nice Gecko breeder that we met last time. And I also know my boa is a big responsibility, thus why I bought her, not only is she a good therapy animal to me, but she is a good show of responsibility, of which I am glad to have her around for any reason.
I'm still sorry for snapping, I just get very worked up about my snake, shes very precious to me -golem plz-.

Kaala, no one was attacking you. Please do not take what we say as personal insult in any way - toward you or your family. But when folks come here for help, often that help entails us looking deeper into the situation. You have to understand that those of us who are regular posters here and on other forums are VERY passionate about what we do. And we are passionate about our reptiles' care - ours and the ones in the care of others too.
The statements you've made have raised some red flags for us. As knowledgable and responsible owners AND regular posters here on BP.net, we feel it is part of our repsonsiblity to inquire and offer suggestions based on those red flags.
Also before there are any comments on my knowledge of how I take care of my snake, I asked these questions because I am unsure of my own answer as to what I should do.
And that is commendable, we all have questions at one time or another. We should never stop learning. But we gave you an answer. Perhaps it was more of an answer than you were looking for, but each of us offers our advice based on what we think your problem might be. Even when it's a problem that perhaps you didn't know you had. That's typically how things work around here. Someone says "help I have ____ problem," people come on, and with the best of their experience offer advice.
I'm still sorry for snapping, I just get very worked up about my snake, shes very precious to me.
As she should be. All the more reason to keep an open mind with those of us offering advice. If you pay attention to it, you'll see that EVERYthing we suggest has only the best intentions for your snake.
So please don't take anything personally - and I'm not scolding you now or then. Just trying to help you understand our perspective. I hope what we've told you will help you in the end!! Please ask if you have any further questions.

Have you placed an ad in the classified section here?? Tanks are hard to sell because they are nearly impossible to ship. You might have better luck posting an ad on your local craigslist.
!! Sorry to get off topic!

My first reptile was a crested gecko. Now I have another one because my first one is so great. Crested geckos are a good starting lizard in my opinion.
