You're supposed to be nocturnal
I'll admit I'm a little green when it comes to snake owning. I've done a lot of research on reptiles great and small, but when it comes to hands-on stuff, I'm new at this, and I've been acting like a panicky new mother.
Well, here's my issue. My python, Steve Rogers, has been really active today. Usually when he does this he's hungry, but he ate a large rat a few days ago and I don't want to risk over-feeding him or anything. We have put in a new roof on his enclosure to try and help keep the heat and humidity in, since it's stupidly dry at this time of year for some reason. It's cardboard of sorts, with holes in the top.
If you need the temperature details I can go up and get them, but since his last shed was incomplete I thought it wasn't warm enough in his vivarium.

Haha I know that feeling of being a panicky new mother, I was and still am that way with my baby Red-tail, Poprocks. I've seen her out in the daytime just chilling and curled up on her hide. I wouldn't say that hes hungry, if you fed him a few days ago, specially a large rat, I think he'll be fine feeding wise. I hear you on the dry climate, I live in Colorado and I hate how its dry even in the winter, I think he may be just really active at the time or hes checking out his surroundings, maybe he wants you to pick him up?
It could mean a lot of things, but I assure you he is probably right as rain, even for a Python.

Re: You're supposed to be nocturnal
I think you're right. He was just wandering around his enclosure, climbing up plants until I walked by. He's a very social snake
And lately, some of the younger cats have been pushing their faces up against the sides of his enclosure to stare at him, so that could have something to do with it...

Re: You're supposed to be nocturnal
If you do not have proper hides for your snake they will be very active during the day trying to find a safe place. I would recommend getting the hides from reptile basics. Once you have a proper hide you probably won't see him much anymore lol

Alright, he's calmed down since the last post and curled up under his log. I suppose it was just a little bout of restlessness.

If you are talking about one of those half logs, those are terrible hides and he has been looking for a better place to hide. Replace it asap
