I separate once pups are weaned. I generally just remove all males. Siblings can breed as young as 5 weeks of age.

I always wonder on this topic...

The right size to gas and feed a BP are like, 6 or 7 weeks old. So why don't we just leave the growouts in there until they are ready to be gassed? The females might be in early stages of pregnancy, but so what?

You don't want males fighting and killing each other for mating rights. And pregnant does tend to feed more than normal. So you're saving your snakes' resources as well as your rats. And pregnancy hormones stunts growth.
