    it depends on the enclosure really, with a glass terrarium just get an under tank heating pad about the size if a 3rd of the tank. with a rack or plastic tub heat tape works well. the wattage doesn't vary, but zoomed under tank pads can be found at most pet stores and they are pre set to about 85 degrees f. either way size isn't so important, just make sure your snake can rest on top of it when he feels he needs to. oh and never ever use a hot rock, they can burn your snake.
