    baby ball python to skinny?

Hello, I bought a baby ball python about 1 1/2 months ago, when i bought him he was VERY skinny "about the size of the cardboard tubes that come on the old clothes hangers maybe a bit bigger" the old man at the shop said to feed him pinky mice. But from the research i did before i bought him, iknew that wasnt right so i bought him some hoppers and he has ate 3 of them since i offered him food. My question is how long before he starts getting fatter? he is already quite a bit fatter than when i got him, i feed him every 5 days and seems he is doing good, but i was just wondering how long before he gains all his weight back? thanks ahead

It depends on the snake, some gain weight faster than others even when they're on the same feeding schedules. Feeding every 5 days is exactly what I would be doing too so he may hit a growth spurt without you seeing it right away. I'd by a digital scale and monitor his weight: weighing once a month will tell you how much he's gaining. He'll grow at his own speed.

X2^ Spot on advice. Feed appropriately sized meals, and as long as the snake keeps eating regularly you shouldn't have to worry.

Re: baby ball python to skinny?

also like i said i feed him every 5 days, but i have noticed, like today is the 4th day since he ate last and he eats tomorrow, but everytime on the 4th day he has his head sticking out of his hide and will come out now and then like he is hunting so should i stick with the 5 days like ive read on here or give it to him when he does this? the only other time you see him is when he gets a drink or i hold him, which is the 3rd day after he eats for about 5-10 minutes. thanks for the quick replies

My spider boy does the same thing around day 4/5. He has a good metabolism and is ready to eat. Stick to the 5 day schedule.

Me and boyfriends babies do this all the time. Today was the fourth day and even in the day time they are hunting. Stay on a five day feeding for sure, too much food can be bad.
