It actually isn't that hard to find "exotics" vets or emergency care, it just might take a few extra minutes than it would for your typical dog or cat vet. Southern California is, in general, a very good place for "exotics", because although there are many animals banned in this state, there are many of those species that are not banned (and even species that are banned can be found here). Because the human population is so high in this state (over 33 million), the animal population is also high, and the vets can and will capitalize on that.
