Ozzy, my first BP has been crawling around with his tail curled up in the air. I've read lots of things on BPs and never read anything about this. Is this bad?

I've never heard of it. It couldn't hurt to take a trip to the vet, though. Maybe someone has info on it, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Not to make lite of the situation, but maybe it's just a sophisticated BP, or it's father or mother is part Basinji. Sound's like it could have a crick (a spasmodic condition of muscles in the back) (tail). I guess a snake can get that. But i would deffinetly get it looked at.
The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is....
....Tattooed people don't care if you're not tattooed.

Peanut always has his tail curled up unless he is on the floor stretched out. it's probably no big deal.

Do watch for inflammation of the vent. The vent scale should sit flat and close completely. I recently took two ball pythons to the vet when I noticed them with their tails up all the time (not just when defecating) and both had problems.
In one case the vet thinks the snake got dehydrated (excessive ventilation in his cage) and he built up uric acid clumps and these are rough and irritate them when they go to the bathroom. He is on antibiotics to help him heal the vent infection and I’m soaking him regularly and have closed up the cage.
The other was full of a parasite called giardia (captive bred snake so I'm thinking from commercial mice), which apparently had overwhelmed her digestive track and caused irritation and infection. She is on antibiotics and Flagyl to treat the parasites.

My BP
My bp does that and he's pooped several times and stuff yada yada but unless he's lying still the tail comes up. Took him to the vet for an unrelated concern and they said he looked perfectly healthy so I guess some are just like that. He also really seems to enjoy me running a finger along his back because he arches his back up into me finger lol.
